A warm welcome to Peter Jarrod (who?) by Tony Moorey

It’s almost six years since I first crossed under the brass ‘No.1′, making me a veteran amongst some but still a new boy compared to others (Russ and Fiona to name the obvious).

What remains fresh in my mind however, is the warmest of welcomes I received, one that I have seen given to so many others since; that and some eye-opening sights at my first V-Festival, something else I have witnessed more than once between then and now.

So this afternoon, if you notice me showing around a face new to the building, I hope you’ll greet him just as warmly. In fact, why not get up from your desks, put those executive toys down, cast expense forms aside and shout ‘hello, Peter’.

If the return voice is familiar, that may be because you know him better as Bam Bam, the majority of 15 to 35 year old Londoners certainly did when he lead the pack in the fiercely contested breakfast show marketplace. A not entirely unfamiliar face too to those of you (Russ and Fiona again) who were here the last time Peter broadcast from our studios. Over the next couple of weeks he will be joining us while Iain is away and Geoff is busy filling in for Christian. I hope you join me in welcoming him back.

    Tony, if you haven’t already, please be sure to acclimate Peter to the studio webcams. He might be unaccustomed to listeners (or maybe just one in particular) emailing in asking if he’s worn the same shirt two days in a row.
