Getting out to meet you – by Donnoch O’Driscoll

One of the many things that we’ve been doing in the first 30 days as the new owners of One Golden Square, has been for Nick Hewat and I to meet as many commercial clients and agencies as we can in order to introduce ourselves and give them some background about who we are.

I have to say, it’s a very refreshing experience. Despite the fact that we are not in a position to answer their two key questions; what will the new brand be called and when will it launch, the unanimous feedback to date has been extremely positive, excited and supportive.

We can’t give details of the new brand or the launch date yet, but what we can tell is as much as possible about the new owners and why they were so committed to buying the business at One Golden Square… because of the wonderful people there, the fact that its the largest 15-44 commercial station in the UK, the existing multi platform offering, the creativity of the digital team… I could go on and on… and I usually do!

Speaking of which, by now poor old Nick has had to hear me tell the story of how Absolute Radio first met Times of India and how our relationship has developed over the years, through to this wonderful opportunity for all of us at One Golden Square, at 20 or so client/agency meetings. And he has heard me say so many times just how committed and supportive TIML is for this whole project.

But hang in there Nick, the day is fast coming when we can go back to see all of these clients/agencies again and finally reveal the new brand and its key values going forward… then you’ll just have to listen to me tell that story again another 20 times!

New Brand, Key Values? I always gave Branson credit for these, now, I’m sorry new brand son. Must have more important agenda. This so called evolution is “Absolute shite”. Talk Sense instead of Overpaid consultants with new ideas. I’m sorry, you have decided to cock up something that was working great, just needed a little tweeking to get perfect. I’m away and so will many more Loyalists. Guess they needed some more pennies to start up something more profitable so this can fade away, eh.
