Abbey Road

This Thursday, Absolute Radio comes live from Abbey Road. Listen out to both the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show and Geoff Lloyd’s Hometime Show for lots of interviews and performances.

To whet your appetite, we’ve got this video, shot a few weeks ago in Studio 2 at Abbey Road where we were recording the sonic identity of Absolute Radio.

(Note that I’ve fixed the previous sound problem with this video. The video is in YouTube’s high quality, so click on it if it’s too slow for your internet connection.)

  1. Marty from new yawk,

Fascinating. Thank you for sharing that with us.

  2. Niko (from Manila),

Is it just me, or are the sound levels disproportionate? I can’t hear a thing even when I spike up the volume - and then the jingles play loudly.

  3. adam,

Niko - the sound plays OK with me. Try listening the low-fi version if you’re having problems.

[UPDATE] Actually, it does seem as though the audio via the YouTube site is poor, whereas the embedded version seems to play OK. I’ll re-encode and see what I can do.

  4. Erwin,

I think Nico means the sound quality from the livestream. There are some level problems with it. Sometimes the music is louder than the DJ and the jingles. A bit more compression to set the levels right maybe. I emailed a couple days ago about this issue but it’s not resolved yet.
Also the Absolute Classic Rock streams is to low. I’ll put the volume up to hear someting.
    Please, let it fix.

  5. Marty from new yawk,

Adam, I’m the only one that didn’t complain about something in this post. Maybe, it’s the medication.

  6. Niko (from Manila),

Edwin, I meant the YouTube video here… the stream’s been working fine with me (except for the volume, which I can easily rectify).

Adam, thanks for the heads-up; will try again when I have time. :)

  7. Erwin,

@Niko: but there still problems with the livestreams, so that’s I thought you are also have this problem. Sorry, I have good ears… ;-)

  8. adam,

Depending on how you listen to this video, there was a problem with it, which I believe I’ve now fixed. The higher quality version will be returning shortly.

  9. Niko,

Erwin: I guess it depends on what stream you’re listening too. (I’m on the AAC+ streams, by the way.) I used to think I have good ears too, but oh well… :)
