Since Absolute Radio started holding OPEN PLAYLIST MEETINGS we’ve been taking the results very seriously.

Listeners are invited in to One Golden Square to join the debate, as well as clients and other members of Absolute Radio staff from outside the programming team.

Each week so far we’ve discovered a new song, through the meeting, that has subsequently been added to the Absolute Radio playlist. It’s a simple process of ‘Hit’, ‘Miss’ or ‘Maybe’ and last week’s winner was a new unsigned artist from Leicester called JERSEY BUDD with a total of 7 hits.

In fact, perhaps suprisingly, he scored more than the forthcoming 2nd single from Oasis’ album – and that’s why we’ve added Jersey to our playlist this week.

Oasis, as runner-up, was also added – and MGMT, who came 3rd, are Geoff Lloyd’s record of the week on the Hometime show this week

The Open Playlist meeting is a chance for those attending to enthuse about music – about the songs. Its not about plot, plugging or politics. Its about passion.

We played Jersey on air last night and he got a similarly enthusiastic response from our listeners at large. An artist for the future we hope.
