Restructuring

Absolute Radio is building a new music and entertainment brand and in order to adapt and meet the challenges ahead we need constantly to look at the business and ensure we are investing in the right areas. This is particularly the case now during exceptionally tough economic times. Some areas of the business have been under-invested in, like marketing the station for example and it’s important now that we address this in order to re-build share and audience.

In common with other businesses, however, we also need to make difficult decisions and review our internal structures. This is particularly tough at the moment as everyone has been incredibly hard-working, loyal and passionate towards the radio station during the change to Absolute Radio.

Today we have begun a consultation process with a small number of people, the result of which is likely to mean some people leaving the station. This is an extremely tough decision which has not been taken lightly by us, the management team.

Thank you for your help and support in getting through these difficult times. We remain committed to our plans and to shaping and sharing them with you.

Donnach O’Driscoll.

OMG… that dreaded word restructuring! I am glad I run my own business and don’t get to hear that word anymore.

As someone who has been terminated several times (sometimes even with justification), your concern for your people is commendable.

“the result of which is likely to mean some people leaving the station” is this presenters or other staff?
