U2 do divide opinion. For some they are self appointed rock messiahs determined to save the Third World when they should be concentrating on making the great music that brought them fame. I’ve always thought that was a harsh view of the band and was probably spawned by commentators sickened by their huge commercial success. We do love to knock success in this country and they don’t come much bigger than U2 . Make no mistake U2 are HUGE! 150 million albums sold and on their last tour alone they played to 3.5 million people – HUGE! But what I like about this interview with Christian is that Bono and The Edge show a very human, down to earth side that media rarely shows any interest in covering. Yes Bono is a political campaigner but he doesn’t take himself so seriously that he can’t laugh at his own daughter’s observation that, on the night he was entertaining Beyonce and Jay Z at home, he was ‘probably boring the arse off them about Africa!’ So reserve judgement and have a look at this video on absoluteradio.co.uk recorded here at our very own studios.
