Since we became Absolute radio we have been extremely interactive with the listeners about what kind of radio station they want.
We promised to listen and consider and deliberate over their comments and views. They told us they wanted a radio station that didn’t play the same old songs over and over again and so was born ‘ THE NO REPEAT GUARANTEE’ which has proved enormously popular.
Listeners told us that they loved 80’s music and I am amazed at the amount of texts and emails that flood in for our 80s hour. The music is always spot on and it couldn’t be compiled everyday without the listeners’ great music choices and memories. Over a period of time it has become clear that the success of this part of our programming was excluding people who love 80s music but just couldn’t listen everyday due to work schedules, life patterns and a whole host of other reasons.
So we decided to make a small change… The Eighties Hour will be on at a new time from Monday – 12 Noon.
This means still hearing all those great eighties songs (although, still free of Mathew Wilder ‘Break My Stride’ and Joe Dolce’s ‘Shaddup ya Face’…sorry even I couldn’t subject the Great British public to those two!) PLUS lunchtimes will now be even better at Absolute Radio. Grab your sandwiches put your feet up and lose yourself for an hour in the most interesting and influential musical decade in history.
The 80s Hour is slap bang in the middle of our No Repeat Guarantee between 12 Noon and 1pm every weekday, and no doubt listeners will text me and email me with their forgotten gems because it’s what makes the 80s hour so enjoyable to listen to and from my point of view to present!
