Tiny Dancer by James Curran

Elton John’s classic track ‘Tiny Dancer’ was added to our current playlist this week. This was prompted by the fact that there is currently a vastly inferior hip hop version of ‘Tiny Dancer’ by DJ Ironik which is being released next week. Christian O’Connell has been leading a campaign on his breakfast show to strike a blow for real music and get the original version back in the national charts by encouraging listeners to download the track to offset the DJ Ironik version. Christian has already given out, on air, £500 of iTunes vouchers to 500 listeners to launch the downloading campaign – to a phenomenal response.

When you play the track please encourage listeners to download the song by making reference to Christian’s breakfast campaign. We will keep you posted with any developments.

Tiny Dancer” is a 1971 song by Elton John with lyrics by Bernie Taupin. It appears on John’s fourth album, Madman Across the Water.

The song was written about Taupin’s then-girlfriend Maxine Feibelman, a dancer who had accompanied John and Taupin on their first tour of America in 1970. She would become Taupin’s wife the following year. The song was never a hit in the UK.
