As part of the businesses growing digital needs and our marketing plans, we have created a new role here at Absolute Radio. Dan Thornton will be joining the station to take on the newly created position of Digital Marketing Manager to further drive our successful community strategy and website.
Dan will be responsible for managing all aspects of Absolute Radio’s digital marketing plan pushing forward our digital ambitions. We’ve already got a very strong community interacting with us from YouTube to Itunes, downloading 1.5million podcasts and watching a million videos since launch amongst other things. A key part of Dan’s role will be to help the team maximise these opportunities and drive traffic to the website.
Dan has a wealth of experience in this area. He previously spent a little over eight years at Bauer Media, in both Editorial and Marketing roles. As Community Marketing Manager he was driving online traffic, social networking and user engagement for specialist titles include Car Magazine and Motorcycle News, before his role was expanded across the Bauer Media portfolio, working on brands including FHM, Heat, Empire and Cocosa driving their communities across social networking sites and managing the online marketing.
In addition he also runs two blogs which look at Marketing and Digital Publishing, and also Microblogging, which has led to coverage from The Guardian and Business Week
