Another digital first as we add to the iAmp family

Today we have two pieces of good news – following on from the success of the iAmp we launch our first paid application today.

James Curran summed it up nicely, I couldn’t have put it better myself….

“We have rather exciting news today which we want to shout about straight away.

The Absolute Radio Live Amp is now available to download at the iTunes App Store.

It is available a the incredible bargain price of 59p! And this one off payment of 59p gives you access to the Absolute Radio Live experience from your iPhone. Share the excitement of live music with videos, photos, event information and a live Twitter stream for the best live music events in the UK.

You can also listen to Absolute Radio, including our exclusive live broadcasts of bands on stage at this summer’s top music festivals.

To find it “Type in Absolute Radio on the iPhone Application store””

Nice.

Secondly, we can announce that our radio player is now available on Google Android. This is the Google mobile operating platform and will soon be on about 20 new handsets, it’s already on about 1 million phones. Will it be successful? Well it’s Google so probably, and Chrissy and Anthony keep raving about their new phones every minute of the day, so ask them.

To add to the 110,000 people who have downloaded the iPhone Amp we want to add another 110,000 more! We will be pushing this as hard as we can next week. Last time was incredibly successful. This will probably take a bit longer but I think we will get there.

At the Radio Festival last week I stood alongside the BBC presenting on “A Future Radio Technology” session about our approach to getting the station heard using the web and mobile. We are the FIRST UK radio station on Android and everyone knows we are leading the way and ahead of the competition…

Congratulations to the digital and tech team for pushing us forward with this.

Where’s the BlackBerry player as promised?

The iphone here in the States is quite an expensive proposition. The monthly cost could be about $90/ month (or 60 quid w/a one pound = $1.50 exchange rate)

We are working on the Blackberry radio player, unfortunately there are a large number of different operating platforms for different Blackberry models, so it’s harder to get the player working on this than it is for the iphone.

I’m hoping it won’t be too long now. Definitely before the end of August!

I caved and bought the iphone. The first application download was Absolute Radio. It works. I can now listen even more.

The days of moving my desktop into the toilet or connecting it to the dashboard in the car are over.
There will be less strange looks in my direction, but not completely.
