Last night was a great night for everyone in production, promotions, sponsorship and digital media at Absolute Radio as we won three of Radio Academy NDL Promotions & Marketing Awards. In total we had seven nominations across six different categories.

We won Best National On-Air Promotion for Benjamin Button, when we promoted the film that told a man’s backwards life by reversing the schedule for the day.

We also won Best Use of Online For Marketing A Station Or Network for Rock Off when we challenged fans of different bands in a series of elimination heats.

Finally, we were thrilled to win the Gold Award for overall excellence!

And Lee Price in our production team won a TomTom in a prize draw on the evening!

Here’s what some of the top people  in the radio industry had to say about us:

Trevor Dann, Chief Executive of The Radio Academy: “Absolute’s entries were a testament to the innovative work being done at One Golden Square. But our judges were impressed by the overall high standard of creativity and execution in this year’s entries, which were the best for some years.

Andrew Harrison, Chief Executive of RadioCentre, the industry body for Commercial Radio: “Absolute Radio’s investment and hard work in the station is coming to fruition. They have delivered stand-out, adventurous creative solutions for advertisers, quality programming for listeners and have an innovative approach to cross-platform promotion in the digital world. They are innovative, creative and original – tonight’s gold award was thoroughly well deserved.”

Congratulations to everyone at OGS! Your creativity has me in awe and I’m privileged to witness it as it unfolds day by day.

Might I suggest a Display Case for all your awards in reception so everyone who walks in knows just how talented you all are. Do get an unbreakable one to protect for the odd asshole (it’s a new yawk security thing).
