Owl City – Fireflies (22/02/10)
A huge song on Youtube. Fireflies has been number 1 in five countries including the U.S. Owl City is Adam Young, described as a “private young man” from Minnesota, who recorded all of his music from his parent’s home and put it on MySpace. Owl City’s debut album ‘Ocean Eyes’ will be released in the UK early next year.
Pet Shop Boys – All Over The World (14/12/09)
New single from the duo’s album ‘Yes’ (their 10th). 2009 has been quite a year for the Pet Shop Boys – they won the Outstanding Contribution To Music at the Brit Awards earlier this year. This track is included on ‘The Pet Shop Boys Christmas E.P.’, which also features a cover of Madness’ ‘My Girl’ plus a medley featuring Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’ and the Pet Shops’ own ‘Domino Dancing’.
Taken By Trees – Sweet Child O Mine (14/12/09)
Different take on the Guns N Roses classic which is used in this year’s John Lewis advert.
Taken By Trees is the solo project of Victoria Bergsman, who used to front Swedish band The Concretes and also voiced “Young Folks” (the whistling song) by fellow Swedes Peter, Bjorn and John.
