Last night saw the first ever Radio Academy Radio Production Awards.
It was great that we had 3 nominations. Eloise for Newcomer, Vince for Online Producer and Dean for his work on the Zoo sessions. I was really impressed with standard of our entries and those played at the ceremony last night.
Unfortunately we didn’t win the glass iceberg trophies (looked like dangerous weapons) in any of those categories but we were very much a part of a winning entry. Joe Adams who works with Phil Critchlow at TBI Media won the prize for concert producer – a large part of his entry was for the V Festival Secret Sessions Stage. It was great to hear some of that played out at last night’s ceremony… taking me back to those sunny days in a field in Chelmsford.
Well done to Joe and to Eloise, Dean and Vince for getting nominated in awards which were designed to recognise those behind the mic.
As an aside, it was also great last night to talk to so many radio industry figureheads who’d heard our big announcement yesterday and wanted to know more details… some were nearly as excited as we are! ‘One described it as putting the cat amongst the radio pigeons.’
