RadioDNS is born (officially) by Paul Brown

Last week, on the 16th of February our very own RadioDNS expert, Ben Matthew attended the Radio DNS Second General Assembly in Geneva where it was voted unanimously to adopt the Statutes, Membership Process, Trust Model, IPR Policy, and other recommendations proposed by the Statutes Drafting Team. All of these can be found here in the documentation section at the official RadioDNS website.

So what does this mean, well in short and apart from being a very exciting time for traditional broadcast radio, RadioDNS is now able to legally form itself as a not-for-profit organisation, and start providing the RadioDNS basis on a full operational basis – as well as promote the technology to device manufacturers and broadcasters.

Supporters of RadioDNS can now choose to become a Member of RadioDNS, which allows them to influence the direction of RadioDNS, vote at meetings, and nominate candidates for the roles of Chairperson, Secretary and Steering Board Member. Supports can also become a User of RadioDNS which means that your station details are in RadioDNS, but no more than that.

The One Golden Square Labs team have always been huge supporters of RadioDNS and are proud to be a Member of the new organization. Absolute Radio were one of the first commercial radio stations to adopt the technology ready for the launch of the Pure Sensia and we’re looking forward to seeing RadioDNS technology adopted by more devices in the future. The RadioDNS technology compliments our iTunes tagging strategy perfectly.

For further information and details of what RadioDNS is and how and why it will become an important part of traditional broadcast, take a look at the following video:
