The Absolute Radio Live Amp Takes A Break

Back at the start of July 2009, we launched our first paid iPhone application, the Absolute Radio Live Amp as part of the Absolute Radio Summer of Live.

Combining videos, photos, event information and a live Twitter stream it brought the excitement of live music to your mobile throughout the summer festival season and beyond with the huge number of live sessions at Absolute Radio. All of that content was available for the bargain price of 59p, and thousands of people have downloaded and used the Live Amp.

Since then we’ve released several more applications, reached over 500,000 downloads, and developed applications for Android, Nokia and BlackBerry phones in addition to more applications for the iPhone, and we’ve got plenty more to come this year.

But that’s meant that we’ve had to look long and hard at the Live Amp. It was a good application when it was released, and still works well today, but eight months is a long time in the mobile app world. In order to update and release a Live Amp which would build on the lessons of the first application, offer great value, and effectively deliver the live experience to your mobile will take some time.

So as a result, we’ve taken the decision to remove the Absolute Radio Live Amp for the present time, until a new live music application is available in the future. In the meantime you can keep up with the current range of Absolute Radio mobile applications, and all the latest news on our new projects at www.absoluteradio.co.uk/mobile.
