Artists and Search Engine Optimisation by Anthony Abbott

Content discovery via search is extremely valuable to any business, but particularly a new brand such as Absolute Radio, where a web user can be exposed to a brand for the first time via a quick search for something on Google. On Thursday we rolled out a significant update to the absoluteradio.co.uk website following an in-depth look at how we optimise our websites for natural search.

As part of this work, we have re-launched our Absolute Radio music artist pages, which are now a nicer place to be, as well as being more Google-friendly :-)

Much of what has changed – such as HTML template structure and meta data – is for Google & Co.’s eyes only, but all of the changes will result in more people discovering what’s on offer from Absolute Radio. So, here what you will notice:

• A Music dropdown menu, providing you with one-click access to our featured artists such as The Beatles, Coldplay, and Florence and The Machine.
• An all-new artists section, featuring our favourite bands, and loads more of yours. These pages include a datastream of the latest news, videos, pictures, and tour information, as well as being a useful source of biographical and discography information.
• An easy share widget added to all pages on absoluteradio.co.uk. One click to share stuff with your friends on your favourite social network, including Facebook, Google Buzz and Twitter.
• A new, simplified website footer, with a link to our site map if you want to delve deeper.
