‘Ping’ Absolute Radio On Apple’s New Social Network For iTunes by Dan Thornton

Absolute Radio on Applie Ping - the new social network on iTunes

If you’re one of around 160 million iTunes users around the world, or you follow technology news at all, you’ll probably be aware that Apple has released a new social network within iTunes. Named Ping, it lets you follow friends and artists and see what people are buying and recommending.

It’s an interesting innovation, and promises to have a major impact on the way iTunes is being used. And that’s why you can now find Absolute Radio, Absolute Classic Rock, Absolute 80s and Absolute Radio 90s (links will open iTunes) on Ping right now. At the moment, Ping profiles are separate from the rest of iTunes, so if you’re looking for our range of applications, podcasts and other goodies, you’ll still need to search for Absolute Radio in the main iTunes search bar.

And we’ll look forward to connecting more with you on iTunes Ping.

Great article, Dan. Good to see the Absolute brand at the forefront of new social networking – well done to one and all!

As a geek, I’d like to be able to tweet invites for my followers to follow my ping profile. I note that you have embedded links to the Absolute profiles that are set up – how did you do this? I mean – where did you find the url to link to the profiles?

    Regards

Hi Adam, and cheers for the flattery. For any links, right clicking (On a PC) gives you Open and Copy options for copying and pasting links from iTunes.

It took me a while the first time I wanted to share one of the links to our apps!
