The Power of Google by Adrian Fitch

September 2008 not only saw the launch of Absolute Radio but also Google’s public entry into the browser market. After the initial PR splash Chrome quickly accounted for 1% of our site, visits but by the end of June 2010 this has now risen to 8%.

Similarly visits to our site from Android phones have grown from 3% to 15% in only seven months. In the world of search, there is no denying that Google is massive. It is still responsible for 92% of our current search traffic. As an aside, look at the growth of “absolute” as a search term against the demise of “virgin” since our launch. Within two months we had more traffic from “absolute” than “virgin”.

Google’s YouTube continues to grow in importance for us in raising brand awareness. So far our videos have been viewed a total of over 6.5 million times within You Tube alone. Out of our radio peer group, only The TalkSport Magazine’s channel has had more views. Google Listen, Google’s mobile app for subscribing to and streaming podcasts is getting off to a slow start with us. Less than 1% of July’s podcasts were downloaded via Google Listen.

What will Google launch next and how will the OGSlabs use it to showcase and grow the Absolute Radio brand?

Take a look at those stats mentioned above in a handy SlideShare format.
