New Playlist Section – By Anthony Abbott

Today we’re launching a brand new section on absoluteradio.co.uk which celebrates the music we play on the station and allows listeners to search, browse and buy the songs they hear on the radio. Check it out here

The page is incredibly fast and we’ve implemented Google-inspired ‘instant search’ functionality which lets you quickly find songs and artists we play. We’ve integrated iTunes and Facebook Like into the song results, while also providing users with the opportunity to listen to a clip of every song, to help them find the one they are looking for. Users can also build a mix tape of the songs we play because we’ve also integrated Apple’s iMix technology which allows you to build your own playlists and download them directly from iTunes.

And as we are an open and sharing bunch, we’ve also made our playlist data available to developers for the first time. We want them to go away and build something amazing with it, and we’ll showcase the best apps and mash-ups on the website. We’ll be rolling out the new Playlist section across all our digital station websites in the future, but developers can already get their hands on the data feeds for Absolute 80s, Absolute Radio 90s, Absolute Radio 00s and Absolute Classic Rock at absoluteradio.co.uk/playlist.

A few people have been involved in the creation of this new section, but high fives and pats on the back should go to Simon Ngo and Duncan Riley for their fantastic work in the design and build.
