Ed Vaizey MP – the Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries

Ed Vaizey was the ‘most met minister’ in 2010, and he once called for ‘speed dating’ sessions with his fellow ministers, due to the limited amount of time he gets to spend with them. As well as his career in Westminster, he has also been a freelance political commentator who’s written regularly for The Guardian, and appeared on  TV shows including Despatch Box and The Wright Stuff.

Clive Dickens – Chief Operating Officer, Absolute Radio

Clive is at the forefront of digital innovation and thought leadership, and has helped to significantly grow the business over the last twelve months, making Absolute Radio the most awarded commercial radio station in 2011. Clive oversees all of the station’s major digital initiatives, developed and designed as part of One Golden Square Labs – a digital working group led by Dickens, set up at Absolute Radio to develop applications for the web and new and emerging platforms, including mobile, wi-fi radio, and next-generations DAB.

Here is the slideshow to accompany Clive’s presentation:

Tim Davie – Director of BBC Audio and Music

One of the most influential opinion-formers in European radio, Tim is also the founding director of UK Radio Player. He has overall responsibility for BBC Radios 1, 2, 3, 4 and the BBC digital-only stations 6 Music, 1Xtra, Radio 4 Extra and the Asian Network. He’s also a trustee of BBC Children in Need, a board member of Rajar, Radioplayer and DRUK.

Karla Geci – Director of Strategic Partner Development, Facebook

Originally from the USA, Karla has lived and worked in the UK since 2001. She works with broadcasters, media companies and content owners who want to leverage the Facebook platform to build social applications and experiences across their web properties and Facebook pages.

James Wigley – Head of Digital Sales, Absolute Radio

Before joining the team at Absolute Radio, James worked in digital at Mediacom, News International, and Channel 4 – and here he speaks about the new Absolute Radio InStream product, involving targeting advertising, which is set to launch in February 2012.

Here is the slideshow to accompany James’s presentation:

Rohan Oommen – General Manager of Xbox LIVE in EMEA, Microsoft

Rohan has been at Microsoft for 9 years, and before that worked as a brand manager at Nestle. He’s responsible for driving the business strategy to expand the hugely succesful Xbox LIVE entertainment service to the PC and internet. He joined the Xbox team when LIVE was just a concept – until last year he managed the subscriptions on the service, with over 20 million members. Xbox has pioneered the ‘logged-in’ business model, directly relating to the Absolute Radio’s Instream product.

Dave Gorman – comedian and presenter, Absolute Radio

Dave is a pioneer of ‘documentary comedy’, and his shows have been massively popular in the USA and in the UK. He’s seen huge success on TV, as well as with shows including  Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack Adventure, and he has also written three Sunday Times bestselling books. He is a presenter on Sunday mornings from 10-12 on Absolute Radio.
