David Tennant to star in Absolute Radio nativity

Everyone’s favourite former Dr Who David Tennant is returning to One Golden Square for a ‘challenging’ new role as the “Virgin Mary” in the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show nativity play.

The Scottish star will appear in full costume on the arm of Christian as “Joseph” for the tongue-in-cheek one-off performance which is being broadcast live across the UK on Friday 21st December at 8:00am.

The nativity-with-a-twist will also feature our very own Rock n Roll Football presenter Ian Wright in a mystery role (he will only be given his costume and script on the day) and live music will be supplied by
singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner.

Absolute Radio presenters will take on other roles including breakfast show co-presenter Richie Firth as “the grumpy star”, Russ Williams as “Shepherd”, Travel presenter Maggie Doyle as “Angel Gabrielle” and Newsreader Andrew Bailey as “Narrator”.

The roles of the three wise men will be performed by David Tennant fans who won a competition to co-star with him.

A manger is being built by our friends at Wickes and bales of hay are being delivered in the coming days to help make a memorable final breakfast show of 2012.

The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show nativity will be broadcast live across the UK on Friday 21st December at 8:00am and will also be filmed and made available for viewing here later the same day.

See what Radio Today and David Tennant fans are saying about the nativity.

This is a really zany breakfast idea. I wish I was doing the SFX in foley style (not the donkey sounds, though of course).
