Teen Tech Awards Announced – Enter interest by 14th December

TeenTech have launched their very first awards event which will cater for young people in Year Groups 7-11. Working in teams of up to three; students will take a look at problems large and small to see if they can innovate and find better solutions using technology. There’s £1000 in each category up for grabs for the school of the winning team, while the overall winners will be invited to meet Patron of Teen Tech ,HRH The Duke of York, for tea at Buckingham Palace.

Teen Tech is headed up by TV and radio presenter Maggie Philbin, who recently chaired a Digital, Interactive and Developer event at One Golden Square for Sound Women in partnership with Absolute Radio.

Sound Women is the networking and development group for women in radio and audio, and this particular event sought to raise the awareness of opportunities for women in the disciplines of digital, interactive and technical development, together with discussion of how more women can take on a career in these areas.

There are 10 categories within the Teen Tech Awards programme, reflecting different areas of science and technology. Each school can submit one team entry per category:

• Sport
• Transport
• Healthcare
• Education
• Wearable Technology
• Environment and Sustainability
• Entertainment
• Communication
• Construction
• Future of Food

There is also a Special Category for journalism

• Journalism – Use any media to report on a STEM story. It could be a world issue, regional issue, business issue or indeed the talents of your teacher or group.
