News: Absolute Radio at the Isle of Wight Festival

Bon Jovi IOW

The offices here at Absolute Radio’s headquarters in Soho are eerily quiet after the staff slipped on their wellies, cracked open a bottle of something chilled and set sail for a weekend of camping, good times and incredible live music.

The Isle of Wight Festival is here.

As the official radio partner Absolute Radio will be broadcasting live from the festival site across the weekend with Pete Donaldson and Sarah Champion fronting a series of shows offering a peek backstage at one of UK’s most iconic music events.

For those Absolute Radio listeners not lucky enough to have tickets Pete and Sarah will be delivering on our promise to ‘take you there’ with live and uninterrupted performances from Paul Weller tonight (Friday), Ben Howard tomorrow and the US legends Bon Jovi on Sunday evening.

We will also be broadcasting a selection of live tracks from performances from acts including Jake Bugg, The Maccabees, Bastille, Laura Mvula, Paloma Faith, Newton Faulkner, Fun, Blondie, Imagine Dragons and Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel.

They will also bring you a unique take on the festival with a series of exclusive interviews and performances from Absolute Radio’s famous purple campervan which has parked up just behind the festival’s main stage.

Here’s the schedule:

Friday: join Pete & Sarah from 7pm until 10pm for their first show from backstage which includes Paul Weller’s full set live and uninterrupted

Saturday: Pete & Sarah will be back on air for the late afternoon (4pm-7pm) with more backstage exclusives and another live and uninterrupted set, this time from the hero of this year’s Brit Awards Ben Howard.

Sunday: We will be back on air with Pete and Sarah from 6pm until the speakers are unplugged; this will be a truly special show as we bring you Bon Jovi’s performance live and uninterrupted (the only chance to hear them perform live and in-full on UK radio this year).

It’s going to be a truly multi-platform event this year with exclusive videos and photos and other backstage content available on mobile and desktop along with live-blogging constant updates on the stations social media outposts including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Vine.

So if you’re not lucky enough to be sailing across the Solent this weekend, don’t worry, we can take you there:
