Throughout September we’ve been celebrating our fifth birthday with an entire month of events, special programming and live performances from bands including Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, Primal Scream, Manic Street Preachers, Haim and The 1975. We put together a brand new series of ‘Absolute Radio Icons’ takeover shows and exclusive live sessions.
Today you can hear our day-long ‘A-Z of Music’ programme celebrating the best music across our seven radio stations. www.absoluteradio.co.uk/listen

So…we’ve come a long way since we first hit the airwaves as Absolute Radio in 2008, picking up a record number of Sony Radio Academy Awards and Arqivas, being named the Arqiva Station Of The Year in 2012.
We’ve championed digital choice with the launch of Absolute Radio 60s, Absolute Radio 70s, Absolute 80s, Absolute Radio 90s and Absolute Radio 00s. We’ve completed our DAB portfolio with Absolute Classic Rock, rolled out our Player App, our Live Scores App and our Rock Off App.
Commercially we’ve cemented ourselves as a market leader in branded content, taken on Ad-funded programming, partnered with tens of brands, sold hundreds of promotions and sponsorships, re-defined radio at The Houses of Parliament and pioneered logged-in listening with our InStream product.
We’ve broadcast live from the Isle of Wight, Hard Rock Calling, V, Latitude, British Summer Time Hyde Park, 80s Rewind, Cornbury and BT London Live Festivals, and we even witnessed David Cameron making a twit of himself on The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show. We’ve hosted hundreds of live music sessions, hit the stages at Abbey Road and the Hard Rock Café, rocked out with Madness in Regents Street, partied with Lenny Kravitz at the Box in Soho, been serenaded by Elton John at the Union Chapel, left speechless by Elbow in the Crypt of St Paul’s Cathedral and got our life-jackets out with The Charlatans on Spitbank Fort.
We’ve made a home for comedy on commercial radio with shows from Frank Skinner, Geoff Lloyd and Dave Gorman, created a new panel show hosted by Nick Hancock and chewed over the facts of life with the likes of Mark Watson and Mel Giedroyc.
We’ve got behind England with Baddiel & Skinner’s podcast at the 2010 World Cup, secured live commentary rights to the Barclays Premier League , Euro 2012 plus NFL American Football and delivered the best in post match entertainment with Ian Wright’s Rock N Roll Football .
And that’s not even half of it! We’ll be in big school before you know it.
