We’re down at the Radio Days Europe Conference in Barcelona at the moment. Our COO Clive Dickens, Content Director Tony Moorey as well as Christian O’Connell and co-host Richie Firth are flying the Absolute Radio flag presenting to the industry among some of the biggest names in radio from all over Europe. Yesterday Clive took to the floor with a presentation on how to Measure, Manage and Monetize with Triton Digital and this morning Christian and Richie delivered a talk entitled: The Secret Sauce Of Breakfast Radio, explaining all about what they do on the show.
Clive and Tony are on stage now to talk about Absolute Radio’s Branded Content- And Log-On And Listen strategy. See presentation above.
Good luck guys and see you on your return

Last Tuesday night saw the culmination of the London heats of ‘Hard Rock Rising – The Global Battle of the Bands’ competition held at the world famous Hard Rock Cafe .
Tuesday’s action saw three new and unsigned bands (having seen off 560 other bands to get there!) battling to win the honour to represent London and the South of Britain in this truly global competition.
Myself, Jemma Downey from concert promoters Live Nation and Fyfe Dangerfield the lead singer of The Guillemots and famous too for that Billy Joel cover on the John Lewis TV ad , were fortunate enough to be the judges on the night and our very own Sunday Night Music Club presenter, Pete Donaldson, did a sterling job as the MC for the evening – even if he got the gender of the female drummer in an all girl band wrong!

The very talented London finalists – Mordechai ( heavy rock ) , The Kuts ( girl punk band) and Sumer (progressive rock with a contemporary twist) – locked musical horns, with Sumer ( pronounced ‘soomer’ ) eventually emerging triumphant . . Sumer will now take their Radiohead and Bush inspired soundscapes into the next round where they will compete with 86 other regional winners from around the globe for the chance to open the stage on Bruce Springsteen’s headline date at Hard Rock Calling on 14 July – a prize most bands can only dream of .

By the time a winner is pronounced by long-time E Street band member and former Absolute Classic Rock presenter , Little Steven in May of this year the overall winner will have seen off competition from 12,000 participating bands and over 300,000 votes will have been cast in what is truly the biggest Battle of the Bands competition in the world today!
And despite the current woes of the music industry such massive participation proves that there is , and fortunately for us , still a huge passion for music and that it recognises no global borders.
